Welcome to the new SmartLaw site, connecting the legal profession with local schools for improved public legal education
Welcome to the new SmartLaw portal, brought to you by the Citizenship Foundation. We’re excited to share this new resource with you, which houses all of our public legal education programmes in one place. For over 25 years we have been developing educational resources for public legal education – and we’re proud to say that for over 25 years, they have proved popular and effective with students and adults alike. Students consistently rate their interaction with volunteers as their favourite part of the programmes and teachers notice the improved confidence and engagement with lessons after taking part in our programmes. Whether it’s the relationships developed between a Barrister Mentor and their Mock Trial’s team or the fun that students have debating IP law and music downloading through Lawyers in Schools, we’re reminded of the value of the programmes across so many levels. In an effort to increase our impact, we’ve developed a new matching service for legal volunteers and local schools hosted here in the ‘Opportunities’ section. Teachers can post a volunteering opportunity and legal professionals can easily get involved to help support public legal education in their area.
We hope that you find the site a useful and valuable resource when teaching public legal education. We have a range of resources for teachers, legal professionals interested in volunteering, and CSR professionals looking for opportunities to present to their firms or in-house teams. Whether your class your company as big or small, we will have an opportunity for you to get involved in shaping the future of public legal education.
If you have any feedback for us on how we can improve the site, please get in touch here.
